The history of Cushman Electronics, Inc. spans roughly three decades.
The company was founded in 1959 by Leroy T. "Roy" Cushman whose vision
was to build high-precision test instruments that simplified operations for field
technicians and engineers. The company manufactured popular analog and early
digital radio signal generators, service monitors, spectrum analyzers, microwave
selective level meters and other communications test sets for the rapidly expanding
two-way radio and telecommunications industries. By the mid-1980s, the
telecommunications market began evolving at a pace that Cushman struggled to
match. They company was not able to match the transition from legacy analog
systems toward advanced digital architectures and cellular technology. Cushman's
troubles began in 1984 when its introduction of cellular radio test sets which were
manufactured by Mexican suppliers and proved to be unreliable. On October 14,
1987, Cushman Electronics announced it would completely halt production and
lay off its remaining factory workers.
The Cushman name is still active but not with LMR test equipment.
The Cushman name is owned by and operated as part of Textron Specialized
Vehicles and is best known for utility vehicles, industrial material carriers,
utility vehicles, golf carts and turf equipment from a plant in Augusta, Georgia.

We'd also like to see articles on how-to-use, troubleshooting, repair, etc.
Many of the so-called Instruction manuals contain more than just operating
instructions. They may also have theory of operation, adjustments, parts lists,
schematic diagrams, component layouts, and other maintenance tips. Download or
view the manual and see if it has the information you require.
Neil McKie WA6KLA (SK) used various Cushman equipmnt in his career in Land Mobile
Radio across over 50 years. He once commented to me that when you seek information on
most any Cushman service monitor you need to keep in mind that Cushman changed the hardware
and the matching manual from time to time, and in many cases the manual changes were delayed.
You need to compare the serial number of your instrument to the serial number series the manual covers.
