How to get PTT working in SoundModem
with radio interfaces utilizing the C-Media CM1XX.

Background -
The CM119 family of sound IC's are commonly used on radio interface adapters from many manufacturers. On radio adapters using the CM119, Push-to-Talk (PTT) is implemented through GPIO pin 3 which in turn in turn activates a transistor that keys the radio.

Applications like VARA FM and SoundModem have been modified / upgraded to support GPIO PTT with the CM119. Unlike VARA FM which natively supports CM119 devices, SoundModem requires a .DLL file to be downloaded and placed in the SoundModem directory to enable PTT software functionality.

Procedure -
To enable PTT control in the UZ7HO Soundmodem software, you must download the PTT-dll.zip file from their website. Here

Unzip the above file, then save it in the same folder where you saved SoundModem.

Start SoundModem and select: Settings -> Devices.

Under the PTT Port, select EXT. The PTT-dll will check the system for CM119 based devices. Click 'Advanced PTT settings'. The PTT.DLL panel will appear allowing you to select which interface to use. Clicking the 'TEST' button causes the selcted intrfacce to transmit briefly.

The above is also documented in the SoundModem user guide.
