Binary Channel Selection on a 32 Channel Syntor-X by Earl S. Garber N3EG.
Web page maintained by Mike Morris WA6ILQ.

Ground control head connector pins 16, 23 and 29 to force the Syntor-X to go into binary channel select mode.
The rotary channel select switch on the standard Syntor-X head has 16 positions.
When pin 12 is grounded that selects the first set of 16 channels ("Zone A" or "Zone 1").
Floating pin 12 (allowing the radio to pull the pin high) selects the second set of 16 channels.
Depending on the head it will be labeled as "Repeat/Talkaround", "Zone B" or "Zone 2".

In the table below an X indicates that the pin is grounded.
