Software Download & Extraction Guide

Right Click the Download Link
 >> "Save Link As"
Save the .EXE to your PC's Desktop

You will have an icon like this somewhere on your desktop,
Downloaded File - Icon
...and the filename will match your selected downloaded (above image is an example).

Locate the file on your desktop, and double-click it to lauch the file extractor
(or right-click, Run As Administrator, if necessary)

You will now see a window "7-Zip Self-Extracting Archive"...
Extractor - Make New Folder

Click the box with three dots to the right of the directory field then click Make New Folder.
In this window titled 'Browse For Folder', click on 'Desktop' in the list FIRST, then click Make New Folder
Name this folder "CAT-nnn Installer Files" (Replace 'nnn' with whatever model you downloaded)

You should now have a folder on your Desktop that looks like this
Folder Icon

Now, in the Extract To field, you should see something similar to below.
Extractor - Make New Folder
Make sure that the directory to the folder you just created is in the field (ending in '\Desktop\CAT-nnn Installer Files',
again 'nnn' to be replaced with whatever model you downloaded.)

Click Extract.

You may observe a window briefly pop up then rapidly go away.   This is good.
Extracting Files

Head to your Desktop and open the folder you created, 'CAT-nnn Installer Files'.  Double-click it to open it.
Folder Icon

You will see your folder full of CAT Files.  The highlighted Setup file is the official CAT Installer. This may also vary, and be titled 'CAT Windows Editor Setup'.
Highlighted Setup File in the folder

Double-click the relevant setup file.  Follow its directions.  When it's complete, you will have CAT icons on your desktop and in your Programs of your Start Menu.

Installation Note:

On newer operating systems (Windows 10/11), you may receive a pop-up saying the software is already installed, if you have other previously installed CAT software. You will have to uninstall one or more CAT packages to install/run any given package you are attempting to install, if you receive that message.   There must be some very similar traces made in the registry during install that makes newer Windows OS' think a program is already installed... when its only just a different version for a different model CAT Controller.  I feel like the main contributor to the issue is the packages that include the same CAT_COMM 32 Communications Program in the installer, which is v2.10. CAT_COMM 32 is included in the CAT300DX/DXL, CAT700, and CAT1000 packages.  This issue has not been tested on older Windows OS (Win 7/Vista/XP, etc). Your mileage may vary.
